With only 2 1/2 months until the official kick-off of New York Energy Week on June 16, Energy Solutions Forum has begun hosting bi-weekly Steering Committee Meetings, providing a dedicated time and space for industry professionals, students and energy enthusiasts to convene and collaborate on the events and hear from guest speakers sharing what will be discussed throughout the week. Last Friday, March 28, 2014, the first bi-weekly meetings yielded significantly more attendees (75 in total!) than previous gatherings. We were thrilled to present to such a large and diverse group of special guests to inform and prepare for discussions during New York Energy Week, including:
- Reid Capalino, a Senior Energy Advisor with Capalino+Company;
- NYEW Board of Directors Member Peter Gardett, Editor in Chief at Breaking Energy;
- NYEW Board of Directors Member Carolyn Kissane, Academic Director/Clinical Associate Professor and Energy and Environmental Concentration Director at New York University; and
- Janice Tran, the Co-Founder and Director of Student Energy.
As our guest speaker (and generous pizza sponsor for the night), Reid shared with us the importance of supportive city policy in the growth of energy efficiency throughout NYC.
