Earlier this month, New York Energy Week announced a Call for Nominations for the NYEW Top Five Energy Leader Awards to mark the fifth anniversary of uniting the global energy community in one of the most vibrant cities in the world. New York Energy Week 2017 will place a special focus on energy’s changemakers — those leaders who have made the strongest contributions to the New York Energy Week community over the past five years. Tuesday through Thursday morning and evening sessions will feature global leaders including ABB Enterprise Software and also feature New York State thought leadership from that of Jeffrey Sachs, NYSERDA, and the NYC Mayor’s Office.
New York City’s Mayor Bill de Blasio announced: “New York has solidified its place as a leader in advancing sustainability and resiliency. With ongoing efforts to reduce our carbon footprint and increase energy efficiency in our communities, we are making valuable investments in our city’s future. New York Energy Week will showcase the latest innovations and cutting-edge strategies that are shaping our local energy economy.”
Five Years of Fueling Industry Collaboration and Investment
Quickly-evolving industries can be both highly competitive and highly siloed, making the connections and collaborations forged between energy market participants at New York Energy Week all the more impressive.
New York Energy Week has enjoyed the support of Energy industry leaders such as Tesla, the U.S. Department of Energy, New York and New Jersey Port Authority, AES, UK Department for International Trade, the New York Green Bank, and others who will come back this year to participate in New York Energy Week 2017. Most recent additions include newcomer ABB Enterprise Software, and keynote speakers Jigar Shah, co-founder of Generate Capital and author of the New York Times bestseller Creating Climate Wealth; Jeffrey Sachs, world-renowned professor of economics, leader in sustainable development, senior UN advisor, bestselling author, and syndicated columnist; and dozens of CEOs, investors, academics, and other subject matter experts.
Disrupting the typical conference format, New York Energy Week’s distributed hosting model brings an exclusive experience by showcasing the leadership of market makers and inviting the community to shape the future of the global energy industry. The series incites progress by breaking down barriers across the energy sector.
Since 2013, New York Energy Week’s event series in the third week of June has fostered industry advancement and cross-sector collaboration to showcase achievements and shape the future of the global energy industry. Angelique Mercurio, founder and CEO of EnerKnol, cited the anticipation surrounding the five-year anniversary of New York Energy Week as “both a testimonial to how much was accomplished and an acknowledgement of what’s ahead’. “It is our intention that over this week-long event series ‘by the industry, for the industry,’ participants will interact with energy’s most influential professionals, policy makers, thought leaders, and stakeholders,” she said.
