Energy Solutions Forum (ESF) was delighted to welcome Jeff Gorman from SunEdison as the guest speaker at our bi-weekly NYEW 2014 Steering Committee Meeting on April 25th. With only five more Meetups until the start of New York Energy Week, anticipation and excitement are building as committee members gather to finalize event details.
Our guest speaker, Jeff Gorman, Regional Sales Manager at SunEdison, presented on solar market trends, outlining that the U.S. solar market had its best year in 2013, with newly installed solar capacity surpassing that of Germany and U.S. wind. Jeff also shared SunEdison’s newest solar project at Freshkills Landfill. The project, in partnership with the City of New York, will be the largest solar energy project NYC has seen, and will result in the creation of the City’s largest park. The project will also increase the City’s renewable energy capacity by 50%.
Mei Shibata, CEO of The Energy Agency, an end-to-end marketing communications firm focused exclusively on the energy industry, also joined us for the Meetup, sharing her experience as a Board Member and brand partner of New York Energy Week. Jared Anderson, Managing Editor at Breaking Energy and fellow New York Energy Week 2014 Board Member, chimed in and encouraged attendees to nominate their picks for Breaking Energy’s Top 10 Energy Professionals, noting that finalists will be announced during New York Energy Week.
