The Clean Energy Business Incubator Program (CEBIP) at Stony Brook University works very closely with pre-seed clean energy companies. Our current Client list currently encompasses twelve highly transformative, disruptive clean energy technologies that we expect will have a significant impact on the world’s energy ecosystem as well as a direct economic development impact on the Long Island/NYS region.
CEBIP provides assistance and resources for developers of renewable and clean energy technologies. By mentoring entrepreneurs CEBIP helps them establish successful enterprises to bring their technologies to market. Bringing an innovation to market can be a difficult process requiring technical and business guidance, successful acquisition of funding, and maintaining a competitive advantage.
CEBIP provides a vast array of services, including technological support for clean energy product development, guidance for business plan formation and funding efforts and, if required, locating physical office space and support near other similar cleantech companies.
Currently CEBIP addresses many key needs of an early-stage, energy-based technology business and is financially supported by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). CEBIP works very closely with each of its Clients, all of whom have different needs and focus, striving towards the completion of the main milestones/ deliverables for each individual Client. Several examples of CEBIP Client success include: ThermoLift ($1.6M private funding, $750K DOE grant, $500K NYSERDA grant, 2014 Clean Tech Open), Sulfcrete ($150K NSF grant, $100K private funding, 2013 Clean Tech Open), Triglia Technologies ($200K private funding, 2012 Clean Tech Open), Watt Fuel Cell (significant private funding, multiple NYSERDA grants) and Brimes Energy (private funding, 2014 Clean Tech Open).
