Energy Solutions Forum (ESF), an EnerKnol, Inc. company, today announced the State’s top appointed energy officials will headline the Opening Ceremony of the annual New York Energy Week event series on June 16, 2014. The State’s energy Administration will be represented by:

– John Rhodes, President and CEO of NYSERDA;
– Audrey Zibelman, Commissioner of the New York State Public Service Commission; and
– Gil Quiniones, President and CEO of the New York Power Authority (NYPA).
Speaking together publicly for the first time about New York state’s future utility plan, the State officials will focus on the changing regulatory framework that aims to drive market and utility innovation, and support Governor Cuomo’s plan to enhanceNew York’s competitiveness for clean energy businesses, and make the state’s energy systems more resilient.
“New York Energy Week will bring together unique energy players, all working to transform the industry by developing innovative market solutions for a more resilient, clean and dynamic system,” said Richard Kauffman, Chairman of Energy and Finance forNew York and Chairman of NYSERDA. “On behalf of Governor Cuomo and New York State, we are excited to help ESF kick-off New York Energy week with a discussion about how we are working with the private sector, public utilities and other participants to advance this new system and ensure New Yorkers have improved energy affordability without sacrificing their right to live in a cleaner and more sustainable environment.”
The first of 12 official events in the series, the New York Energy Week Opening Ceremony will serve as a convocation to inform the discussions taking place during the week-long series of events lead by ESF. The Administration will join a lineup of Opening Ceremony speakers including John McAvoy, CEO and President of Con Edison, and ESF founders Angelique Mercurio and Emily Bjorklund, to address the importance of energy market participants having access to regulatory and government information.
“We are thrilled that the State’s energy administration has selected New York Energy Week as the platform to deliver their agenda to the market,” said Emily Bjorklund, Chief Marketing Officer at ESF. “The State’s prioritization of market-focused policies that drive innovation and investment is in line with our company’s mission to bridge the gap between policymakers and market participants. It also underscores the founding purpose behind New York Energy Week, which is to drive investment and collaboration among the diverse stakeholders in New York’s rapidly growing energy economy.”
Launched in 2013 by energy tech startup ESF, New York Energy Week is the industry’s first collaborative energy event series that unites the traditionally fragmented sectors of the energy industry. Last year’s event series drew more than 2,000 attendees and continues to serve as a year-round community building initiative among New York’s thriving network of multidisciplinary energy leaders from finance, tech, media, law, startups, academia, government and industry.
In addition to leadership from ESF, the event series is supported through the collaboration of hosts and sponsors, including NYSERDA, Con Edison, National Grid, Google, CME Group, the Consulate General of the Netherlands, and the US Department of Energy.
