After Superstorm Sandy stranded thousands without power, Governor Cuomo committed to strengthening the State’s energy infrastructure and transforming it into a more resilient, clean, cost-effective and dynamic system. As part of the effort to reengineer the State’s energy system, the Governor has called for innovative solutions to modernize the power grid.

As the utility that has the privilege of providing energy to the world’s greatest city, Con Edison knows the importance of developing a talented work force.
It takes expertise and sharp critical thinking skills to run energy-delivery systems as large and complex as ours. And it is imperative that we run them well. New York, as the world’s financial capital, home to top hospitals and research labs, and a center of government activity, needs reliable energy.

New York is a nationally recognized leader in its support of clean energy and protection of the environment.  However, the extreme weather events over the past few years have highlighted the need to modernize the State’s energy system.  Governor Cuomo has laid out a bold vision to scale up New York’s clean energy economy, increase competitiveness of clean-energy business and build a more resilient, reliable and cost-effective energy system.

In 2013 the Netherlands saw a 400% growth of electric vehicles. Now with over 35.000 EV’s the industry has grown out of its infantile stages. An EV has become a normal sighting, especially in dense urban area’s, like Amsterdam and Rotterdam. As an international EV leader eyes are on the Netherlands, so how did we become such a frontrunner?
Well for one Dutch demographics are ideal for electric vehicles. The Netherlands is highly urbanized and 90% of the cars drive less than 40 miles per day.

Given that big data is one of the hottest topics in business today and that the energy commodities sector is a star performer in the US economy, there is a surprising lack of public engagement on the role of big data in energy commodities production, use, trading and regulation.

Green Light New York is launching an exciting social media initiative to highlight the potential for daylight to offset the use of electric lighting in commercial office spaces.  Called the Daylight Hour- participants will agree to turn off the lights in day-lit office spaces from Noon to 1 on June 20th, the last workday before the solstice.
