New York is a nationally recognized leader in its support of clean energy and protection of the environment. However, the extreme weather events over the past few years have highlighted the need to modernize the State’s energy system. Governor Cuomo has laid out a bold vision to scale up New York’s clean energy economy, increase competitiveness of clean-energy business and build a more resilient, reliable and cost-effective energy system.
Through innovative initiatives such as NY Green Bank, which aims to accelerate the flow of greater private investment to energy efficiency and renewable energy projects; NY-Sun, a $1 billion commitment to significantly expand deployment of solar capacity throughout the State; and Reforming Energy Vision, a plan to transform New York’s utility industry, the State is advancing new policies that will transform the clean energy markets and ensure consumers can better manage their energy choices.
To help make this vision of a burgeoning clean-energy economy a reality, New York’s energy leadership team continues to collaborate with consumers, businesses, local governments and industry stakeholders to create clean-energy strategies that will reduce the State’s dependence on fossil fuels, support emerging clean energy technologies and create opportunities for economic growth that benefit current and future generations of New Yorkers.
The State’s efforts in addressing its energy challenges, along with those of its partners in the private sector, will be highlighted throughout New York Energy Week. Hear how New York is fostering ideas and solutions to ensure all New Yorkers are guaranteed a more secure energy future.
